Perm Engine Company delivered the second batch of PS-90A-76 engines for Il-76MD-90A aircraft to United Aircraft Corporation (UAC), ITAR-TASS reports.

The acceptance certificate was signed on April 15th at International Forum of Engine Building 2014 (MFD-2014) by the Managing Director of Perm Engine Company, Sergey Popov, and Deputy CEO of UAC – Transport Aircraft, Olga Fedonyuk.

According to Sergey Popov, the first batch of engines was delivered to the customer last year. This year a total of four batches of PS-90A-76 engines will be delivered to Aviastar-SP responsible for assembly of Il-76MD-90A aircraft. One batch includes four engines.

"We have already delivered twice as much engines as planned, - Popov noted. – The enterprise decided to keep delivering the engines ahead of schedule". He added that production of PS-90A-76 engines may be ceased in 2028 at the earliest. "These figures were announced by Ulyanovsk. Moreover, Il-76MD-90A program includes development of the jet’s tanker version. We believe that we will be delivering these engines to Aviastar until 2028", - Popov stated. UAC plans to sign a contract with the Russian Ministry of Defense for delivery of 31 tankers derived from Il-76MD-90A in the fourth quarter of 2014, - Deputy CEO of UAC – Transport Aircraft, Olga Fedonyuk, said.

She added that “Perm Engine Company (PEC) is the strategic partner of UAC. All the transport aircraft, including military-transport vehicles derived from Il-76, are powered by PEC engines".

Sergey Popov noted that the tanker version of Il-76MD-90A will also be powered by PS-90A-76 engines. "This is one of the project’s advantages – all the aircraft and engines have a high degree of commonality", - he said.
