Rossiya special aircraft division of the Administrative Department of the President of Russian Federation took delivery of new Il-96-300PU aircraft powered by PS-90 engines developed by Aviadvigatel, press-service of Russian Technologies State Corporation (Rostec) reports.
The company noted that “this is the fourth jet of the type in the fleet of the special aircraft division. All these liners are powered by PS-90 engines”.
«The first Il-96-300PU was developed for ex-president of Russia, Boris Yeltsin, and put into service in 1995. The second jet of the type performed its maiden flight in April 2003, the third one – in August 2012. All these liners are powered by PS-90A engines developed by Perm-based Aviadvigatel design bureau», - Rostec explained. – “The operating time of PS-90A Family engines operated by the special aircraft division reached 130 thousand hours in early January”.
According to the State Corporation, the special aircraft division (SAD) operates 20 aircraft powered by PS-90A engines – 8 Il-96-300s, 10 Tu-214s and 2 Tu-204-300A. According to the head of Rossiya SAD, Vladimir Fedorushkin, the SAD will continue to purchase jets powered by engines manufactured in Perm.
