The total cost of the project for development of advanced medium-haul passenger MS-21 aircraft is 164 billion rubles; 18 billion should be spent in 2014, RIA Novosti reports with reference to the Director of Aviation Industry Department of Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, Andrey Boginsky.

"The total cost of the project is 164 billion rubles: 50% of the funds are allocated from the federal budget and the rest 50% - from a private capital", — Boginsky said.

He noted that 18 billion rubles will be allocated in 2014 and should be spent this year. According to Boginsky, the funds are spent on development of the jet, its production, purchase of components and equipment.

He added that the equipment installation has already been started at Irkutsk Aviation Plant and all the necessary areas have been prepared. The suppliers have started production of components for the first two MS-21 aircraft.

MS-21 aircraft should replace Tu-154 jets. There are three members of MS-21 Family: MS-21-200 (150 seats), MS-21-300 (180 seats) and MS-21-400 (212 seats). The aircraft will be manufactured by Irkutsk Aviation Plant. The maiden flight of MS-21 jet is scheduled for 2015.
