MS-21 order backlog stands at 175 aircraft, Prime reports with reference to the president of Irkut Corporation, Oleg Demchenko.
"We have started the production of the first two MS-21 aircraft. As of today Russian and foreign companies have ordered a total of 175 aircraft", - Demchenko said.
He noted that 51% of the jet’s components are manufactured in Russia. After completion of development of Russian advanced PD-14 engine the share of Russian-produced components will reach 75%. "Development of the aircraft and the engine are being carried out in parallel; both programs are on schedule", - Demchenko said.
It is expected that the first MS-21 liners will be delivered to the customers after 2016.
MS-21 aircraft should replace Tu-154 and Tu-134 jets. There are three members of MS-21 Family: MS-21-200 (150 seats), MS-21-300 (180 seats) and MS-21-400 (212 seats). The aircraft will be manufactured by Irkutsk Aviation Plant. The maiden flight of MS-21 jet is scheduled for 2015.
