Aeroflot celebrates the 90th anniversary of its first regular domestic flight. The flight laying foundation for air transport in our country was performed on July 15th 1923 from Moscow to Nizhny Novgorod, the company’s press-service reports.
“In tribute to the anniversary Airbus A320 “Dobrolet” (the Russia’s only jet in retro livery) was operated on route Moscow-Nizhny Novgorod-Moscow. Solemn welcome of the aircraft was held at one of the country’s oldest airports – Nizhny Novgorod International Airport on the day of the anniversary”, - said in the press-service’s statement.
«After arriving at the airport “Dobrolet” will be welcomed with a “water arch” made by two firetrucks in accordance with the international tradition. Employees of the airport will be waiting for the passengers and the crew of this jet near the terminal in order to release 90 air balls in the sky», - Aeroflot reported.
Nowadays Aeroflot performs four daily regular flights on route Moscow-Nizhny Novgorod-Moscow. The carrier operates Airbus A319, A320 and Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft on this route. Aeroflot is the absolute leader on this destination in terms of passenger traffic: during the period from January to June 2013 Aeroflot’s share in a total passenger traffic on this route was 26,3% (104,6 thousand passengers). The airline’s passenger traffic on this route was over 170 thousand passengers in 2012 (171,800 passengers) and the passenger load factor was over 70%, the carrier noted.
Aeroflot also celebrates the 15th anniversary of resuming flights from Moscow to Nizhny Novgorod this year (the flights on the route were cancelled in early 90s). The flights from Moscow to Nizhny Novgorod are performed on daily basis since June 12th 2011.
