Russia will deliver 8 engines for HJT-36 operational trainer to India in 2013, RIA Novosti reports with reference to CEO of United Engine Corporation (UEC), Vladislav Masalov.

"We have a continuing contract with HAL on delivery of engines for HJT-36 operational trainers. We have already delivered 10 AL-55I engines to India in the network of this contract and another 8 engines will be delivered to the customer in 2013", — Masalov said.

According to him, this is one of the UEC’s top-priority objectives, because Russian companies have never before developed an engine intended for foreign aircraft.

AL-55I has a great export potential. The potential customers are China, Czech Republic, Korea, etc.
