A passenger of S7 airlines was arrested and sentenced to a term of imprisonment of three days for disruptive behavior onboard an aircraft

The drunken passenger used violence against other passengers and interfered in the work of crew members onboard the Airbus A320 owned by S7 Airlines. The jet was performing flight S7-924 from Burgas to Moscow on February 18th 2013. He ignored the comments of flight attendants and passengers so the captain decided to contact the law enforcement authorities, the carrier’s press-service reports.

"The passenger was arrested by the police and taken to the Domodedovo police station’s front office after the arrival of the aircraft at Domodedovo. A protocol about the administrative offence was drawn up against the passenger in accordance with the section 20.21 of Administrative Offences Code “Public place appearance while being intoxicated” and section 20.1 article 1 of Administrative Offences Code “Disorderly conduct”. He was taken to the Domodedovo city court (Moscow Region) under police escort on February 19th. The judge sentenced him to the administrative arrest for a period of three days", - said in the carrier’s statement.

It is the first time, when the passenger of S7 Airlines received a sentence after committing unlawful acts onboard the aircraft. Nevertheless, the maximum prison term in such cases is 15 days. S7 Airlines believes that the existing legislation has some regulations stipulating amenability of the passengers for disturbance of public peace and other unlawful acts, but these regulations are not enforced effectively enough. The court ruling is the shining example of the situation, the press-service noted.

"In connection with frequent incidents of disturbance of public peace onboard the aircraft, S7 Airlines is committed to stiffening the administrative and criminal responsibility of the passengers and introduction of “black lists” of passengers. Passengers from these lists may be declined the airline’s services", - the carrier noted.
