Antonov State Enterprise has found new customers for An-148 and An-158 aircraft in North Korea, Kommersant-Ukraine reports.

Two regional An-148 and An-158 aircraft are under construction at Aviant enterprise (part of Antonov State Enterprise). The jets are intended for Air Koryo (North Korea). Chairman of the Board of Directors of Motor Sich (supplies engines for Antonov aircraft), Vyacheslav Boguslaev, has confirmed this information adding that one more An-148 intended for Air Koryo was delivered to North Korea in early February.

The state-owned Air Koryo is the only carrier in the country. It was established in 1954. The airline performs domestic and international flights from Pyongyang Sunan International airport to Beijing, Vladivostok, Macao and Bangkok. According to a rating made by Skytrax, Air Koryo is the world’s worst airline having received only one star out of five ones possible. The main reason for such a low rating is the outdated fleet mostly formed by aircraft produced by USSR. The carrier launched an English website last year providing the capability of online check-in. However, the website is not working at the moment.
