Angara Airlines transported over 75 thousand passengers using An-148 jets manufactured by VASO

Over 75 thousand passengers have been transported by VASO-made An-148 jets operated by Angara Airlines, press-service of United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) reports.

An-148 airliners joined the fleet of Angara Airlines in autumn 2012 – the first jet of the type performed ferry flight from the airfield of VASO to Irkutsk airport on October 29th 2012. The solemn ceremony dedicated to the delivery of this airliner was held next day. Representatives of the Irkutsk Region administration and members of the public took part in the ceremony. The jet performed its first revenue flight on route Irkutsk – Novosibirsk – Mirny – Novosibirsk – Irkutsk in less than a month after the delivery.

«At present the carrier operates three An-148-100Е aircraft, which are based at Irkutsk airport and Tolmachevo airport (Novosibirsk). The airliners started performing revenue flights on December 20th 2012. Over 75 thousand passengers have performed flights onboard the new-generation regional aircraft during the first year of operation (35 thousand passengers have been serviced at Tolmachevo airport)», - said in the statement.

Angara’s An-148s perform flights to the cities of Siberian, Far Eastern and Urals Federal Districts. The carrier performs flights from Irkutsk to Yakutsk, Mirny, Novosibirsk, Magadan, Bratsk and from Novosibirsk to Mirny, Chelyabinsk and Blagoveshensk. Over 2 thousand flights have been performed during the year. The total flying time of the 3 An-148s exceeded 4 thousand hours (each jet performs about 200 flights per month).

«Angara’s management plans to increase monthly average time of An-148 aircraft to 200 hours per jet. And they are close to this milestone. In November 2013 each of three An-148s had an average flying time of 160 hours (more than the average flying time in October)», - the press-service noted.

«The aircraft’s great operating performance is the result of great job by Voronezh airframers, – head of An-148 program at VASO, Igor Abramov, said. – The aircraft delivered to Angara have been modified in accordance with the existing ICAO and EU standards. They are fitted with proximity warning system. Moreover, the specialists of VASO have completed additional work in order to ensure successful operation of the jets in Siberia under conditions of low temperatures at any airfield. It should be noted that An-148 have successfully passed the low-temperature tests».

«Angara is the third An-148 operator besides Rossiya – Russian Airlines and Polet Airlines. The carrier trained ten crews for operating the new airliners. According to the airline, it is preparing for launching international flights to Asia-Pacific Region. The carrier plans to launch flights to China, South Korea and Japan», - the press-service noted.
