KAPO delivered Tu-214 aircraft to Administration of the Federal Security Service

The solemn ceremony dedicated to presentation of the initial airworthiness certificate of Tu-214VPU aircraft delivered to Administration of the Federal Security Service (FSS) was held at the Business-Center of Kazan Aviation Production Association named after S.P. Gorbunov, press-service of KAPO reports.

During the ceremony the head of FSS’ administration, Boris Danilov, said that Tu aircraft have already shown good results during operation: «We would like to thank Tupolev Company and KAPO for these high-quality and reliable vehicles. Tu-214VPU will honorably represent our country and proudly fly with Russian flag on its board».

CEO of KAPO and Tupolev Company, Alexander Bobrishev, noted that this liner meets the highest standards in the area of flight safety and has state-of-the-art equipment: «This jet is the demonstration of capabilities of the national airframer. We will provide any necessary technical support and grant continuous operation of Tu-214VPU aircraft». 

The jet landed at its base airport (Vnukovo, Moscow) on December 17th 2013.

«Tu-214VPU aircraft was developed by Tupolev design bureau; the jet is manufactured by KAPO. The liner underwent the comprehensive ground and flight testing. Tu-214VPU performed its maiden flight on September 20th 2013. The jet was piloted by test-pilot Alexander Zhuravlev», - the press-service added.

Tu-214VPU aircraft performed 24 flights in less than three months, including acceptance flights and flights used for testing the functionality of special equipment (including special-purpose communication equipment).
