MS-21 aircraft will be powered by another engine and its designation will be changed to Yak-242

MS-21 aircraft developed by Irkut Corporation will be redesignated into Yak-242 in the network of its serial production, vice-premier Dmitry Rogozin said during his visit to Irkutsk Aviation Plant (IAP), Interfax reports.

"The designation of serial MS-21 aircraft will be changed to Yak-242. Bear that in mind", - Dmitry Rogozin said.

He also noted that the report on status of PD-14 program will be presented at a meeting held at IAP.

"A report on status of this program will be presented today and we will try to settle issues connected with accessories, powerplant, avionics, etc.", - the vice-premier said.

Dmitry Rogozin also said that a meeting dedicated to the problems of engine industry will be held soon.
