Federal Air Transport Agency has unveiled the statistics on passenger and cargo traffic of Russian airlines in 2012.
According to this statistics, the passenger turnover of the airlines during the accounting period was 195 775 373,57 thousand passenger-kilometers, (+17,4% as compared to the last year). The cargo turnover was 5 076 250,97 thousand ton-kilometers (+2,5%).
During the accounting period (January-December 2012) Russian carriers have transported 74 032 603 passengers (+15.5% as compared to 2011). The scope of transported cargo and mail was 987 846,84 tons (+0.7%). The passenger load factor was 78,3% and the commercial load factor was 65,6%.
As for the December statistics, the Russian airlines have transported 5 392 973 passengers (+15.6%) and 89 935,54 tons of cargo and mail (+0.8%).
The top-5 carriers by passenger traffic in January-December 2012 are as follows: Aeroflot has transported 17 656 152 passengers (+24,6% as compared to 2011), Transaero - 10 327 560 passengers (+22.2%), UTair Aviation - 7 769 881 passengers (+33.9%), Siberia - 6 351 010 passengers (+23.8%), Rossiya - 4 208 906 passenger (+19%).
These five carriers have transported a total of 46 313 509 passengers (+24.9%) during 2012, which is equal to 62.6% of the total passenger traffic of the Russian airlines during the accounting period.
The five leading airlines by cargo traffic are: AirBridgeCargo – 352 722,6 tons of cargo and mail (-3.3% compared to 2011), Aeroflot – 193 948,9 tons of cargo and mail (+20.8%), Volga-Dnepr - 65 929,8 tons of cargo and mail (+5.3%), Transaero – 65 874,5 tons of cargo and mail (+28.3%), Siberia – 37 413 tons of cargo and mail (+7.1%).
The above-mentioned five carriers have transported a total of 715 888,8 tons of cargo and mail (+6.1%) during 2012, which is equal to 72.5% of the total cargo traffic of the Russian airlines during the accounting period.
