Rosoboronexport and Poly Technologies, Inc. (China) signed a contract on delivery of 52 Mi-171E transport helicopters in August 2012, press-service of Russian Helicopters Holding Company reports. AEX.ru
The deliveries are scheduled for 2012-2014. The first 8 Мi-171Еs should be delivered to the Chinese party in 2012, the rest helicopters will be delivered in 2013-2014.
"The contracts were signed in elaboration of an agreement signed in 2009 by Russian Helicopters Holding Company and Chinese Poly Technologies, Inc., on delivery of 32 Mi-171E helicopters to China. The contract execution was highly appreciated. The customer’s technical experts were fully satisfied with the quality of assembling process, technical accompanying documentation and purchased integrated parts, installed on Mi-171E helicopters. The successful implementation of the agreement in 2011 paved the way for further development of cooperation with Poly Technologies, Inc. in purchasing the Russian helicopters", - the company explained.
The Chinese party is constantly toughening the requirements for performance specifications of the helicopters and set unexceptionally strict requirements for quality. Upon the request of Chinese customers the helicopters are equipped with altitude VK-2500-03 engines, SAFIR 5К/GMI auxiliary power units and upgraded transmission, which allows operation of the vehicle under high-altitude conditions, Russian Helicopters noted.
Мi-8/17 helicopters have been successfully operated in China for a long time carrying out a wide range of missions including: cargo and passenger transportation, geologic exploration, patrolling, fire fighting and off-shore transportation.
The civil Mi-171E helicopter is manufactured by Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant, part of Russian Helicopters Holding Company. Мi-171Е is fitted with equipment intended for search-and-rescue and special operations carried out under any lighting conditions. This makes the helicopter extremely efficient under conditions of high altitude, hot climate, etc.
