Leonid Sergeev was appointed CEO of Basel Aero

Basel Aero, the largest airport operator in the south of Russia, forming part of Basic Element diversified industrial group, has announced the appointment of Leonid Sergeev as CEO, the company’s press-service reports. AEX.ru

“Leonid Sergeev’s key objective is development of a joint venture, founded in June 2012 by Basic Element Group, Sberbank and Changi Airports International. The joint venture will concentrate on implementation of best international practices in the area of airport management, improvement of quality standards, increasing the capitalization of existing assets and further expansion of the airport asset portfolio.

Among the major priorities are: formation of a management team, provision of high quality services to airlines and passengers, expansion of non-aviation activities at airports and further preparation of airport infrastructure for the 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi. In addition, Sergeev will be responsible for implementation of projects connected with reconstruction and modernization of Krasnodar, Anapa and Gelendzhik airports.

Leonid Sergeev has been working for Basic Element Group since 2008. In 2010-2012 Leonid Sergeev was the Director of Strategic Projects at En + Group, he also headed Basel Aero Supply and Handling (one of the fastest growing companies in Russian aviation refueling sector, forming part of Basic Element Group), and United Oil Group (specializes on oil extraction and sales of oil and petroleum products; part of En + Group).  In 2008-2010 Leonid Sergeev was Head of the Strategic Projects Department of RUSAL and was preparing the company for IPO on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

In 2004-2008 Leonid Sergeev worked in the Global Business Development Division of Shell Exploration and Production, Royal Dutch Shell in the Netherlands. In 1992-2002 Sergeev worked at Uralvneshtorgbank, where he worked his way up from currency trader to a member of the Board of Directors and Vice President on strategy and business development.

In 2003 Sergeev took his Master in Business Administration (MBA) degree in IMD business school, Switzerland. In 1998 he graduated summa cum laude from Ural State Technical University. Then he upheld a thesis and obtained the Ph.D. academic title.

Leonid Sergeev was born in 1971 in Sverdlovsk.
