Rosoboronexport has delivered 290 Russian aircraft to the amount of over $20 billion to foreign customers over the past 7 years, Lenta.ru reports.
As reported by the Deputy Director General of the state company, Alexander Mikheev, the major part of the aircraft export accounts for Sukhoi and MiG companies. According to Mikheev, about 40% of the Rosoboronexport’s deliveries are traditionally accounted for aviation and its share is increasing.
The state company’s representative has told earlier that Russia has sold 400 military helicopters to foreign countries over the past ten years (2001-2011). Mikheev, in his own turn, noted that Rosoboronexport has delivered 99 Russian helicopters with a total value of $2.5 billion to the foreign customers in 2011.
During his interview, Alexander Mikheev also told that the demand for Russian armament and vehicles stays strong in spite of public unrest in Northern Africa and Middle East. "But we are working under conditions of severe competition with the world’s leading manufacturers of military equipment - American and European companies", - he stated.
The director of Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSMTC), Mikhail Dmitriev, said in February that following the results of 2011, the volume of exports of Russian armament and military equipment has exceeded $13.2 billion significantly overshooting the planned value.
