Russian security agencies will start the acquisition of reconnaissance Gorizont Air S-100 UAVs in 2013, Lenta.ru reports.
According to a source close to the military-industrial sector, the negotiations on deliveries of these UAVs are currently underway. "The production is ready, testing of the UAV has been completed, but the orders are currently being formed in accordance with the budget for the next year", - the source explained.
Besides government institutions financed from the state budget, representatives of Gazprom have also taken interest in Gorizont Air S-100 UAV. Other commercial entities are not too interested in the UAV, the source said.
The delivery set of Gorizont Air S-100 UAV includes two unmanned helicopters and ground or ship-borne control unit. The UAV is manufactured by Rostov-based Gorizont Company in cooperation with Schiebel (Austria). It is the license version of Camcopter S-100. The helicopter may be operated under any weather and lighting conditions ashore and afloat. The vehicle’s rotor lift is 34 kg, range – 200 km, endurance – up to 10 hours.
The source has also told about testing of Russian Dozor-100 UAV with automatic takeoff and landing. According to the source, designers of Transas are developing cross functional automatic control system in order to use it with advanced UAVs in future.
The work out of the control system’s main modes will be completed in summer 2012. Testing of an arrester system, intended for decreasing the brake way of the UAVs during landing, is scheduled for the second half of 2012.
Dozor-100 UAV has a maximum takeoff weight of 120-130 kg and it is able to lift cargo with weight of 25 kg. The UAV’s endurance is 8 hours.
