Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) of Russia proposed implementation of open skies regime – free work of carriers with all the EU countries, RIA Novosti reports.

"At present we have the open skies regime with USA and Germany. So why should not we implement it for all the European countries?!" – said the head of FAS, Igor Artemyev.

He reminded that the regime of appointed carriers is active now between Russia and most of the EU countries (only one airline from each country (appointed carrier) can perform flights according to this regime).

"Why not implement it for France, Spain, Italy, Czech Republic, Serbia and all other EU countries, where we have a significant passenger traffic?! – asked the head of FAS. – I assure you that prices will drop after that".

He reminded that the FAS’ calculations shown that ticket prices will drop by 18% if the carrier has one rival on its route and by 20-30% if the airlines has two rivals.
