Irkut Corporation has arranged the presentation of MS-21 at Singapore Airshow-2012 international show. It has been arranged in the special pavilion, where full-scale mockup of pilot’s cockpit and part of passenger cabin is located, ITAR-TASS reports.

As noted by president of United Aircraft Corporation (UAC), Mikhail Pogosyan, MS-21 program is “one of the most important ones in area of civil aircraft”. The jet’s preliminary design has been completed in 2011 and MS-21 has been included in the product line of UAC along with Sukhoi Superjet-100. It means that the experience gained during development of SSJ-100 has been harmonized with advanced technical solutions for MS-21. Both aircraft will have unified post-sales support. Sukhoi Superjet-100 will create a basis for promotion of MS-21 at the global market.

As reported by the president of Irkut Corporation, Alexey Fedorov, the liner will be manufactured in three versions: МS-21-200 (150 seats, range – 3500 km), МS-21-300 (180 seats, range – 5000 km) and МS-21-400 (212 seats, range – 5500 km).

According to him, “the analysis of existing contracts has shown that Irkut should launch the production of МS-21-300 first". "The main suppliers for MS-21 program have already been chosen, now the contacts on deliveries of components and parts are being finalized", - Fedorov reported. "Many partners of Russia, which are taking part in SSJ-100 program will also take part in MS-21 program", - he added.

The final configuration and design of the aircraft have already been defined. The detailed design has been started and the work drawings are being transferred to the Irkutsk plant in electronic format. Many MS-21’s components will be made of composites.

The present backlog for MS-21 includes 235 aircraft (including firm orders and options). Many airlines are interested in acquisition of MS-21 and are carrying out analysis of its operational efficiency. The liner should replace Tu-154s and Tu-204s.

Fedorov has repeated the main stages of MS-21 program: maiden flight - 2014, AR IAC certification – late 2016, EASA and FAA certification - 2017. The first serial jet will be manufactured in 2017.

According to the president of Irkut Corporation, the market demand for MS-21 is estimated at 1000 jets (including CIS Region and South-East Asia).
