The first Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SSJ100) aircraft intended for the first Western customer - Interjet (Mexico) arrived at Marco Polo airport (Venice, Italy) for the customization activities at the SuperJet International (SJI) site.

“The “green” aircraft (MSN 95023), which requires painting and installation of the interior, took off from Sukhoi Civil Aircraft (SCAC) assembly plant in Komsomolsk-on-Amur (Russia) on October 5th 2012. The jet made stops at the airports of Novosibirsk and Zhukovsky (Moscow Region). It landed in Venice on October 6th at 12.35 (local time)”, - the company noted.

SuperJet International is the joint venture between Alenia Aermacchi (51%) and Sukhoi Holding Company (49%). It performs SSJ100 completion and delivers the liners to the Western customers. The interiors’ installation and painting of the Interjet’s aircraft will be performed at the SJI completion center in Tessera (Venice) Italy. SJI should also obtain the “Supplemental Type Certificate” (EASA-STC) which allows installation of Pininfarina Style interior.

“We are delighted to welcome the first Interjet SSJ100 in Venice”, – Nazario Cauceglia, CEO of SuperJet International said. “Today is a special day for SuperJet International since it marks the beginning of new industrial activities in Venice. This important milestone has been achieved thanks to close cooperation with our Russian partners - Sukhoi Civil Aircraft (SCAC). We will continue to cooperate in order to ensure a high level of services and meet our customers’ expectations”.

Interjet (Mexico) is the first SSJ100 customer in the Western market. The carrier signed the firm contract on delivery of 20 SSJ100s. All these liners will have a 93-seat configuration. It is expected that the first aircraft (MSN 95023) will be delivered to Interjet in March 2013 after the completion of its customization by SJI. The first FFS simulator for SSJ100 will be installed at the SJI Training Center in November 2012. Thus the pilots of Interjet will be able to start training in January 2013.
