Indonesia will order 6 Su-30МК2 fighters

Russian Aviaton » Wednesday December 7, 2011 18:08 MSK

Rosoboronexport has come to an agreement with Indonesia on delivery of six Su-30MK2 fighters, Kommersant reports. However, the final armament configuration has not been specified yet. The parties intend to sign the final contract this year.

A source, who has been taking part in the negotiations on the part of Russia, told us about arrangements regarding the signing of contract on Su-30MK2. "We have met with the Minister of Defense of Indonesia, Purnomo Yusgiantoro and Commander of Indonesian air forces, Air Marshal Emam Sufaat, earlier and discussed the cooperation, but now we have entered a new level,— said the source.— We hope to sign the final contract on delivery of six Su-30MK2s by the end of the year". He also noted that the jets will be assembled by two aviation plants – in Irkutsk and Komsomolsk-on-Amur (for provision of balanced workload for the enterprises).

The source has not unveiled the contract’s value saying that Indonesia has not specified the final configuration of fighter’s armament. However, the source, which has been taking part in the negotiations on the part of Indonesia, underlined that the contract’s value “will exceed $500 million”. The sources did not say whether Indonesia will obtain credit or not. We remind you that the previous deliveries (for example deliveries of Su-27SKM fighters with a total value around $300 million) to Indonesia have been performed by means of a credit, obtained from Russia.
