We are the first Russian airport to be there", – CEO of Domodevo airport, Igor Borisov, noted demonstrating the ACI certificate. "Today is the field day for Domodedovo", - said the First Deputy Minister of Transport of the Moscow Region Government, Alexander Mitusov. "We know that the airport is not going to rest on its laurels: the construction of new runway will be started next year, the passenger terminal will expand. Domodedovo solves the problems of transport accessibility together with us. I would like to wish every success to the airport and a good luck to Inna on behalf of Moscow Region Government", - he said.
"None of the European airports have demonstrated such paces as Domodedovo has been demonstrating since 2000", - said the head of Domodedovo urban district administration, Dmitry Gorodetsky. "It is a real success! May success wait upon the airport in future", - he added.
The registration of the 25-millionth passenger is the significant milestone not only for Domodedovo, but also for the whole Moscow Air Cluster and Russian aviation industry. It will allow Domodedovo to join the group of the Europe’s largest airports in accordance with Airport Council International (ACI) classification, the airport’s press-service noted.
The press-service has reported earlier that Domodedovo airport has serviced more passengers during 11 months of 2011 than during the whole last year.
Following the results of November the passenger traffic of Domodedovo airport was 1 849 898 passengers (+8.3% as compared to November 2010). The airport’s passenger traffic has increased by 15.6% during the period from January to November. Domodedovo has serviced 23 864 598 passengers during eleven months of 2011 (+1 611 069 passengers as compared to the whole last year).
