Aeroflot will pay EU €800 million for greenhouse gases emission quotas by 2025, Fontanka reports. It has been declared by the CEO of Aeroflot, Vitaly Savelyev, during Russia-EU aviation summit.
We remind you that Russian airlines, which perform flights to Europe, will have to pay for greenhouse gases emission since 2012. According to Vitaly Savelyev, Aeroflot will have to pay around €40 million. «It is quite possible that it will have an impact on our passengers – the ticket prices may increase», - he noted.
According to him, the payments of European airlines to Aeroflot for Trans-Siberian flights are less significant as compared to this situation. Moreover, after entry of Russia in WTO these payments will be called off. The present amount of payments for Trans-Siberian flight is assessed at $500 million per year. Some of these funds go to Aeroflot and some part goes to budget.
He also noted that Aeroflot will have about 126 Russian aircraft in its fleet by 2025. According to him, 80% of Aeroflot’s present fleet consists of Airbus aircraft.
