Ural Boeing Manufacturing (UBM), the joint venture between Boeing and Verkhnesaldinsk metallurgic production association (VSMPO-AVISMA), has delivered the first batch of main landing gear beams for Boeing 737 Next-Generation, Boeing reports. AEX.ru

«The production of main landing gear beams for Boeing 737 Next-Generation by UBM is an important step in the long-standing partnership between Boeing and Russian Technologies State Corporation/VSMPO-AVISMA, our strategic partner and key supplier in Russia, – said Garry Kessler, CEO of Ural Boeing Manufacturing. – Our work is aimed at increasing the production output and capacities».

The main landing gear beams for Boeing 737 Next-Generation is the component of aircraft’s wing, supporting the mounting of the landing gear. It consists of two parts – one for each wing. UBM will perform the primary machining formed details delivered from VSMPO-AVISMA, and after that the details will be delivered to Boeing’s site in Portland for the final machining. Providing about a half of the scope of main landing gear beams for Boeing 737 primary machining, UBM’s site allows Portland’s plant to support the capacities at levels required due to increasing output of Next-Generation 737.

VSMPO-AVISMA has been the partner of Boeing and supplier of workpieces since 1997, when the first contract between the companies has been signed.

«Our companies already have an experience of successful cooperation. A number of titan details of new-built 787 Dreamliner have been produced using an alloy developed and integrated by the specialists of VSMPO-AVISMA and Boeing, - said Mikhail Voevodin, CEO of VSMPO-AVISMA. – We will continue to expand our cooperation with Boeing and our joint work on increasing the efficiency and creation of world class products».

Boeing and VSMPO-AVISMA have opened the joint (50/50) venture in June 2009 - Ural Boeing Manufacturing, based in Verkhnaya Salda, Sverdlovsk Region. UBM is the new state-of-the-art enterprise performing machining of titan workpieces for Boeing 787 Dreamliner, the most high-tech jet in the world.

Boeing intends to implement projects in Russia with a total value of $27 billion in the next 30 years, where $18 billion will be allocated for acquisition of titan products, $5 billion – for services in the area of design and $4 billion – for acquisition of other kinds of services and products, including products and services for space programs, the company noted.
